Tempest Lighting Patented DEC system and now NEW DEC2!
The Tempest DEC system is the heart of the Tornado, Hurricane, Cyclone and Typhoon enclosures. It consists of a microprocessor controlled heating and cooling system that maintains constant temperature and humidity in side the enclosure while protecting your expensive investment from condensation buildup, overheating or freezing.
DEC2 Now Available!
The new DEC2 system adds additional failsafe functionality in a more compact package while adding RDM talk-back features, an industry first. Now the end-user can monitor temperature, fan speed, hardware status or fixture shut downs from the console, without a technician having to visit the enclosures, which many times are high in the air or spread out over large areas such as in theme parks or Vegas style attractions. Fully compliant with the recently ratified RDM 2006 standard.

Tempest Lighting Inc., the leader in outdoor protection for your lighting investment.
Now with enclosures for video projectors of all shapes and sizes!
Tempest Lighting was founded in 1999 by Harry Forman, Larry Lieberman and Chris Martin when a job arrived with a problem that no product then in production could solve. Legoland, in southern California, wanted to put High End Cyberlights outdoors. People had put moving lights outside before, some had even made custom enclosures but they were big and loud and not very effective. But when Lighting Designer Pat Gallegos came to Harry Forman and Associates looking for a more elegant and permanent solution, he knew they could do it. Working with Larry Lieberman and the folks at Vision Quest Lighting, a revolutionary design was born, merging form and function, and providing a functional protective enclosure that was pleasing to look at. Designed with all types of weather protection in mind, the Hurricane moving light enclosure was born. Integrating a micro-processor controlled heating and cooling system into a weatherproof NEMA 3R enclosure, Tempest Lighting was well on its way to the full spectrum of products available today.
In 2005, Tempest Lighting manufacturing was moved from New York to North Hollywood to be closer to the sales offices in LA. This also allowed us to have more control over R&D with faster turn around times. Every enclosure is built by hand, custom painted in our own paint booth, and configured specifically for the fixture going into it.
Tempest products now cover everything from the simplest Strand SL or ETC Source 4, to Barco R12 or Christie Roadster projectors, as well as moving lights from Martin, High End, Robe, Clay Paky, SGM, and many others. (See our fit list for a more complete list) Industry standard fixtures like the MAC2000, DL2, and VL3000 or specialty fixtures like the Robert Juliat Quincy or Rosco X-Effects, nothing is impossible, and all enclosures are pleasing to the eye.
Tempest works hard to make sure that your lighting investment is protected, in Theme Park, Architectural exteriors, humid or wet interiors, extreme cold, and dry dusty heat. All products are ETL listed, NEMA 3R rated and designed for long term use with little maintenance.
