The Storm Lighting Enclosure was conceived with all fixed-position ellipsoidal projectors in mind. It can be mounted in almost any position and provides basic protection from the elements. The sturdy fiberglass body is topped with has a 10" projection window on its front cap, which is easily removed to access the luminaire and its shutters or focus adjustments. It also allows the use of most types of accessories (gobos, gel frames, scrollers, gobo rotators, check for details on what will fit) with any standard leko. This front cap is held securely in place by three draw latches. The rear cap of the unit is also held by three latches and easily removes for access to the lamp compartment of the luminaire.
As with our other products, it is designed for long-term and permanent installations in exterior environments where minimum maintenance is required. But it can also be used in indoor environments where conditions may be detrimental to moving lights (dust, smoke, high humidity, contact with moving bodies or objects).
While the enclosure body provides basic protection for elements, the interior contains a forced-air cooling system that draws its power from the luminaire's supply. However, the power draw is so insignificant as not to affect the output of the luminaire.
In the end, this complete protection system will reduce maintenance, increase lamp life, extend fixture life, and save you money in your outdoor use of projector-type luminaires.
The Storm is offered in two models, the 5000 (Architectural) and 5100 (Economy). Although functionally equivalent, they are slightly different in external appearance. The Architectural version has a curved yoke, black rubber draw latches, and an automotive enamel finish (pictured on left). The Economy version has a simple straight yoke, rotary butterfly latches, and is only finished with a gelcoat to protect the fiberglass.
Also, use of the Storm with 5° and 10° units requires the ordering of the unit with a special front cap (forecasted availability - TBA). |
